The latest Bollywood music trends for 2011 are video songs. The song from Goalmaal 3 as originally performed by Shaan and Anushka Manchanda continues to be hot and popular. It carries an electronic feel, a pulsation reminiscent of electronica when it first came out.
Within this group of videos are replays. One of the foremost songs from the movie called “Action Replayy” is called Zor ka Jhatka. It is sung by Daler Mehndi and Richa Sharma. It is basically rap music but with an Indian flavor.
The song ‘Char Baj Gaye’ hit number one with Sameer and Sachin-Jigar. They have assembled a lovely song, with a simplicity of lyrics and a beguiling tune. This is a party song for anywhere you want to start one. Get the energy out of your system, especially if you are hyper-active.
At a slower tempo is singer Atif Aslam who soulfully pours out his heart in the hauntingly beautiful song entitled ‘Le Ja Tu Mujhe’. The singer is polished and clean in this simple story about love.

Mona’s members include Nick Brown on vocals and guitar, Vince Gard on drums, Zach Lindsey on bass and Jordan Young on guitar. Their genre is considered Alternative Rock. Some of their songs include Shooting the Moon, Teenager, Trouble on the Way and Listen to Your Love.
Coming in second on the MTV poll was Jesse Jay a 23 year old female singer from Redbridge London, England who was also named Britain’s most promising musician as well as the BBC sound of 2011 and Britain’s Critic Choice award. Jesse J has worked with some big name American artists as a songwriter including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus who she co-wrote Party in the USA for. Her first studio album signed on Island Records was called Who You Are and includes singles Price Tag, Do it Like a Dude and Nobody’s Perfect. Her genre’s include Pop, R&B and soul.
While there are many top musicians named each year for each different Genre the two most notable lists come from MTV and the BBC. The BBC’s list actually named fifteen performers including Jesse J as their number one.

None the less, this British native has been part of “The Count of Monte Cristo”, “Stardust”, and is set to play Superman himself in the 2012 film “Superman: Man of Steel.” Perseverance doesn’t even begin to describe this guy.

We all know this kid as a great Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” series, but it seems as though Mr. Tom Felton is trying to break out of that spell and really expand his experience in the industry. Hopefully we’ll start seeing Felton really work his magic on the big screen this year.

We believe one of the most likely to succeed is going to be none other than Emma Roberts. How can she go wrong? It’s in her blood to be famous! As the niece of actress Julia Roberts, there’s a huge question of why she isn’t more well known. While she has done a lot of independent work, the role she will be most recognized for this year is her major part in much anticipated “Scream 4.” Alongside with Hayden Panettiere, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette; this Wes Craven film is guaranteed to be a great one. And hopefully a breakthrough for Roberts!

Of course, we’re not psychics. Who is going to really break out this year and who isn’t is all up to the film gods. With 2010′s list of new actors seemingly unmatchable, 2011 is really going to be a tough year for these men and women!

D.J. Caruso bringing to the big screen a movie version of the teen novel I Am Number Four will intrigue the industry. It will be worth watching to see if he can equal his past hits of Eagle Eye and Disturbia with this new thriller.
George Nolfi comes to the director chair for his screenplay The Adjustment Bureau after making a big name as a writer. But can he match his writing performances with an equally wonderful attempt to make his place among the big name directors.
Duncan Jones has his name added to the list of promising new directors with the addition of Source Code in the action movie category.
Jon Favreau while his name is nothing new to the industry this twenty year veteran of movies seems to be making the transition to director quite well. Cowboys & Aliens hopes to take the Iron Man director into the thriller seat of director history.

This remains just a small list of the many directors hoping to become the new Frank Capra, Cecil B. DeMille or Howard Hawkes. What the future holds remains to be seen, but the movies will continue.

Aamir Khan Productions was founded by him in 2001 and has produced “Dhobi Ghat.” This film is the story of four people in Mumbai who meet through fate. It is one of three films featured at the Maximum India Festival in Washington DC, in March, 2011. Another of his films, “Delhi Belly,” in production since 2008, will be released in July.

2011 looks to be a big year for Farhan Akhtar with three films coming out that he produced. Two of these can be classified as action thrillers, “Game” was shot in Instanbul and London and has the look of the “Bourne Identity” flicks. “Don 2: The Chase Continues” is a sequel to “Don” and is also directed by Akhtar. His third film for the year, “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara,” follows three male friends on a road trip.

Padma Lakshmi may be claimed by American audiences, but she was in fact born in Chennai, India and spent much of her time shuttling between Madras and New York. Her early career included working with a modeling agency in India who got gigs in Paris, Milan, and New York where she worked for designers such as Emanuel Ungaro, Ralph Lauren, and Alberta Ferretti. She is also purported to have been one of Helmut Newton’s favorite photographic subjects. As far as Hindi film, she starred with Amitabh Bachchan and Jackie Shroff in Boom, a 2003 Hindi action film. She married novelist Salman Rushdie in 2004 and was the inspiration for one of the author’s characters in his novel Fury. That marriage ended in divorce in 2007. Since her Tamil is said to be perfect, she was asked in an interview if she would consider doing Tamil films in the future, to which she replied that such an offer “would be cool.” So stay tuned on that front. In the meantime, you can catch her hosting on Top Chef, a Bravo TV series now in its eighth season. Of most recent news, the actress/model gave birth last year to a baby girl who sources say was fathered by venture capitalist Adam Dell as a result of a “minimal relationship” the two had. Since Padma has long suffered from endometriosis, her physician referred to the birth of baby Krishna as “nothing short of a medical miracle.” However it’s viewed, we’re happy to report that mother and baby are fine, and with that notion we hope to see her for many years to come in Hindi film or otherwise.

Although the chances of that happening are slim to remote (actually, they’re pretty non-existent), Romania’s Secretary of State announced today that the country encourages “Indian filmmakers to come and in turn help tourism. Since our actors and producers are very skilled, (Indian) filmmakers will also discover new possibilities.” The politico went on to state that “‘Bollywood will increase tourism. When we promote one business (Bollywood), it in turn attracts other businesses and this could be a good way to increase tourism.” Sounds to us like the secretary is more interested in promoting his own country’s tourism rather than helping to broaden Bollywood’s resource-base as evidenced by the further observation that “Bollywood shoots are no cheap affair and even shooting a simple song sequence abroad can cost a fortune. Most of the money flows into the economy of the country where the movie is being shot.” And while we agree that some of the country’s exotic locations such as the monasteries of Moldavia and the coasts of the Black Sea can be visually appealing in screen presentation, we can’t help but wonder whose hand is needed to feed whose mouth in the invitation.
