The Most Promising Musicians For 2011

On Jan. 2, 2011 MTV announced that the most promising musician for 2011 was a band name Mona from Nashville, TN. Mona’s members include Nick Brown on vocals and guitar, Vince Gard on drums, Zach Lindsey on bass and Jordan Young on guitar. Their genre is considered Alternative Rock. Some of their songs include Shooting the Moon, Teenager, Trouble on the Way and Listen to Your Love.
Coming in second on the MTV poll was Jesse Jay a 23 year old female singer from Redbridge London, England who was also named Britain’s most promising musician as well as the BBC sound of 2011 and Britain’s Critic Choice award. Jesse J has worked with some big name American artists as a songwriter including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus who she co-wrote Party in the USA for. Her first studio album signed on Island Records was called Who You Are and includes singles Price Tag, Do it Like a Dude and Nobody’s Perfect. Her genre’s include Pop, R&B and soul.
While there are many top musicians named each year for each different Genre the two most notable lists come from MTV and the BBC. The BBC’s list actually named fifteen performers including Jesse J as their number one.
